Holocaust Memorial

A trip to Toby’s Dinner
Theater to see the play “Anne Frank”
has inspired 6th grade students at Hereford
Middle school to contribute to the Houston Butterfly
Project. Every 6th grader is designing a butterfly
which will be sent to the Holocaust Museum Houston.
The 373 butterflies made by HMS students will
be part of an exhibition that will be showcased
by the Holocaust Museum in Houston in the spring
of 2012. Each butterfly represents one of the
1.5 million children who died during the Holocaust.
As of this date, the Museum has collected over
400,000 butterflies. story by

Ms. Stem's Chinese World Language
class is using technology to enhance learning.
Pictured, students are conversing with Perry Hall
Middle School students via the internet.
Students were able to practice
using phrases in an online live voice and camera
connection with students at Perry Hall. Student
groups asked common questions in Chinese. The
other groups had to quickly comprehend the question
and respond in Chinese. Students were very motivated
by this "real world" experience.

Our school had a very inspiring
assembly all about Courage. "Courage Lions"
is part of a program started to comfort and inspire
children who are in hospitals. Students are asked
to donate spare change during lunches so that
our school can donate a "Courage Lion"
plush to a hospital.
